Peter Sutherland
Peter Denis Sutherland (born 25 April 1946) is an Irish international businessman and former Attorney General of Ireland, associated with the Fine Gael party (part of the European People's Party bloc). He is a barrister by profession, and is also Senior Counsel at the Irish Bar. He is also known for serving in a variety of business and political roles.
In 2013, University College Dublin law school was renamed the Sutherland School of Law in his honour, following his financial contribution to the newly completed law teaching facility.〔(''Minister gives green light for new law school''; http://www.ucd.ie/news/2013/12DEC13/021213-UCD-officially-opens-25-million-Law-School-named-after-Peter-Sutherland.html )〕 He served as chairman of Goldman Sachs International until June 2015.
==Early and personal life==
Sutherland was born in Dublin in 1946 and was educated at Gonzaga College, Ranelagh, Dublin. He studied law at University College Dublin and practiced at the Irish Bar between 1969 and 1980.〔()〕 He married his wife, Maruja Sutherland, a Spaniard, in 1974.〔()〕
